Chris Gilbert

What’s up everybody?

My name is Chris. I first started practicing jiu jitsu in 2012 with my uncle Jason in his garage for a few months before joining Leo Cantù’s gym in Corpus Christi. A year later, I moved to San Antonio where I trained with Quinn Bruttell who gave me my blue and purple belts and with whom I co-owned and operated Genesis Jiu Jitsu SA. Over those 5 years, I was fortunate to teach over 2,000 hours between group classes and private lessons before I even got my brown belt. I also have over 100 competition matches through the first four belts.

Since 2020, Ive been training with Chris Easter who gave me my black belt in September 2024. Im very grateful to Chris and Edgar for opening a safe place for us to train and a platform for me to share my jiu jitsu every week.

Practicing and sharing my jiu jitsu is very special to me because I recognize how much the art has given to me, and I find fulfillment in seeing it enrich the lives of others in the same ways that it has enriched mine.

I guess choking people is kinda therapeutic, too.
